A permeable wall system allows cross ventilation while providing security in the San Francisco Station
It could be one of the hottest days of the summer and you will feel fresh taking the train in San Juan. Built in 2005, all stations of El Tren Urbano (The Urban Train of San Juan) were commissioned to local architects and artists of Puerto Rico. This gave them the opportunity to be a vital part of this transportation tool, seen by many as a key to the modernization of this Caribbean city.
Most stations of the train were planned to be elevated instead of being underground. This condition allowed having cross ventilation and natural sunlight throughout every station. The firm Sierra, Cardona y Ferrer was responsible for the design of stations such as Hato Rey, San Francisco, Jardines, Martinez Nadal, among others.
